Kamal Haasan is one of the most respected actors pan India, but he is also a director and producer. At the trailer launch for his upcoming film ‘Indian 2’, he opened up about the bilingual film ‘Hey Ram’ released in 2000, scripted, acted, directed and produced by him.
He also talked about Shah Rukh Khan and his cameo in the film, and also mentioned that he did not take any fees for his cameo role. Kamal Haasan said, "Let me talk on behalf of Mr SRK because I am sure that he'll allow me to do that. When we worked together, we were all just people. I don't see a superstar; he doesn't see a super director. We are friends. As a matter of fact, Shah Rukh Saab made that film (Hey Ram) for free. What more do you need?"
He further said, "That's not something a superstar would do. That takes a true fan of cinema, a connoisseur of art and a good actor. I'm incredibly grateful to him." While talking about the word ‘superstar’, he said, “We don't see ourselves that way. You, the audience, give us these titles, and we shyly accept them."
Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film is a sequel to the Tamil action film. Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, with the ensemble cast of Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover.
