Lately, Swifties can’t really take a break, especially with #swiftiesracism trending on X(Formerly Twitter) which doesn't helping them at all. The hashtag trended after Billboard announced Beyonce and Taylor Swift as the top two Greatest Pop Stars Of The 21st Century.
Swifties, as a fan base, is very loyal, so much so that they would stand up against the world to make sure no harm comes to Taylor, but this is what gets them into bad blood with fan bases of other artists. When Billboard announced that Taylor was the second greatest pop star of the 21st century and Beyonce was crowned the first, swifties were quick to discard this ranking.
The war of #swiftieracism started when they claimed that the ranking was not fair, which is valid in their eyes, after all, which fan base doesn’t want to see their favourite artist on top? But this accusation of basis against Taylor went to a whole different level when the clip of Taylor’s wax body from Kanye West’s infamous music video was accidentally added to Billboard's appreciation video.
By the time Billboard took the video down and issued a public apology to Taylor, Swifties already started demanding Beyonce say something about it. Many went on to criticise her, saying that she should have been second and not Taylor. That was it, Beyonce’s fan base, BeeHive, which went into the comments with full force. They started retweeting and calling out Swifties who have made racist comments against other artists with the #swiftieracism.
However, it is important to understand that the fanbases are the ones attacking each other and not the artists. Taylor Swift and Beyonce have been close for years now, ever appearing at each other’s concert film premiere.
