New Delhi:
The Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is going through another outage today, which is affecting many users for the second time this week. The earlier disruption occurred on March 26, which was also a Wednesday. As of 9 pm, tracking website DownDetector reported 514 complaints, with a total of 52 percent of users experiencing difficulties when transferring funds through various apps.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) saw some "fluctuations," but stated later that the situation has since stabilized. A message from NPCI on X, formerly known as Twitter, read as follows, "There were some intermittent declines in UPI due to fluctuations in the success rates in some banks. These fluctuations increased the latency in UPI network. NPCI has been working closely with them and UPI has been stable." Data from Downdetector indicated over 3,000 complaints in relation to UPI transactions around 6 pm.
"NPCI had faced intermittent technical issues owing to which UPI had partial decline. The same has been addressed now and the system has stabilised. Regret the inconvenience," elaborated the NPCI in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
