On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi elaborated about next year's Maha Kumbh as a "mahayagya of unity," telling that it would elevate India's spiritual and cultural identity to new heights.
While addressing a crowd after inaugurating and launching several development projects worth approximately Rs 5,500 crore, He remarked that this grand 'mahayagya' of unity would grab global attention. He also extended his best wishes for the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh and said that, "A new history is being created on the land of Prayagraj."
The Prime Minister pointed out the past neglect of Kumbh and religious pilgrimages by previous administrations, highlighting the challenges faced by devotees keeping aside the importance of these events. He attributed this to a disconnect from India's cultural and spiritual roots, reassuring citizens that the current government, both at the Centre and state levels, shows respect humbly for India’s traditions and faith.
Modi emphasized that the current governments at both levels see it as their responsibility to provide better facilities for the Kumbh pilgrims. He noted that thousands of crores have been allocated for several projects, with both Centre and state working together to ensure perfect preparations.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance given to improving connectivity to Prayagraj from key cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, Raebareli, and Lucknow, to ensure smooth journey for pilgrims. He appreciated the collective efforts of various government departments in preparation for the monumental event, demonstrating the 'Whole of Government' approach in action.
