On 20 November, Maharashtra began the voting process for its legislative assembly. However, like the Lok Sabha or past elections, Mumbai has recorded a low voter turnout.

The voting at all the polling booths across the 288 seats started at 7 AM and will continue till 6 PM. However, according to reports, by 3 PM, the state had recorded only a 45% turnout from voters, with Mumbai at 39%. Actor Rajat Kapoor reacted to this low turnout and said, "... Mumbai has been low on it, always, it's a tradition in Mumbai... People may be disappointed that they vote for somebody, but it does not end up where it is supposed to... I hope for a government that is proactive, pro-people, and inclusive."

While Mumbai’s low voter turnout is still normal, the overall voter percentage is what stockings. Gadchiroi district has the highest voter turnout, with 63%. This could be because of the bipolar state of this election. On one hand, we have the Mahayuti Alliance with BJP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. With the Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance made up of Uddhav Thackarey’s Shiv Sena, Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Congress on the other side.

In the last five years, the state’s people have also seen a lot of political turmoil, from the fall of Uddhav Thackarey’s Government to age-old parties like Shiv Sena and National Congress Party, splitting into factions. This turmoil could result in discouraging the people since they might start believing that their votes have no value.

As the voting period ends, parties and people look at pollers to release the exit poll of the Maharashtra election to see who gets to make their Government in the state. The counting will be conducted on 23 November, and on the same day, the results will be announced.
