Days after Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan received a death threat, Mumbai Police was able to pinpoint the accused. A lawyer from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, has been arrested, but he claims it to be a conspiracy against him.
Last week, the Bandra Police station received a call warning Shah Rukh Khan and demanding Rs 50 Lakhs from them. The police were quick to track the number and found that the number was registered under the name of Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Raipur. They registered a case against the caller under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
He was arrested after he failed to summon in front of the police. He was arrested by Pandri police, after which Mumbai Police went on and interrogated him regarding the call being made from his registered number.
Faizan told the media that he had no involvement in this threat call and that it was a conspiracy against him. "My phone was stolen on November 2, and I complained. I told Mumbai police about it. They interrogated me for about two hours,” he said.
However, he admitted that he has a grudge towards Shah Rukh Khan because of a dialogue in Anjaam, a movie from 1996 that referred to deer hunting. He said, “I hail from Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community (which is from Rajasthan) is my friend. It is in their religion to protect deer. So, if a Muslim says something like this about deer, it is condemnable. Therefore, I objected.”
He claimed that someone had used his name to conspire with this call and threaten Shah Rukh Khan. The actor is yet to make a comment on this, while the Mumbai Police is actively looking into the case.
