IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai After Bomb Threat Found in Toilet

An IndiGo flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a bomb threat note was discovered inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The incident, which occurred on Flight 6E 5324 from Jaipur to Mumbai, left passengers alarmed and prompted immediate action from the crew and authorities.

The discovery of the note was made by a cabin crew member during the flight. According to sources, the note claimed that an explosive device was on board, triggering a priority alert to Mumbai Air Traffic Control. Following standard safety protocols, the pilots requested an emergency landing, and the flight was safely brought down at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport around 8:50 pm.

Upon landing, the aircraft was directed to an isolated bay where passengers were evacuated as a precaution. Teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, along with security agencies, conducted a thorough search of the plane. After hours of investigation, no bomb was found, and the threat was deemed a hoax.

Passengers described the atmosphere on board as tense but praised the crew’s professionalism. “When the captain announced there was a security issue, you could feel the fear spreading through the cabin. People were holding hands, some were praying. It’s an experience I’ll never forget,” said one passenger.

Another travel;er shared, “The crew handled it so calmly, which helped us stay composed. But I won’t lie—it was terrifying. The thought of something like this happening mid-air is every flyer’s nightmare.”

IndiGo issued an official statement confirming the incident: “IndiGo flight 6E 5324 operating from Jaipur to Mumbai received a bomb threat. Following protocol, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay upon landing. All passengers were safely disembarked, and the aircraft underwent a detailed inspection by security agencies.”

This is not the first time Indian aviation has faced such challenges. Hoax bomb threats have been on the rise, causing significant disruptions and delays. While most of these threats turn out to be false alarms, they place a heavy burden on airport security systems and raise concerns about the safety of air travel.

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the source of the note and are exploring whether it is connected to other recent hoax incidents.
