The violent disturbance today at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton by khalistani extremists tried to disturb the consular camp amid the already tense international relations between India and Canada. It is the third such violence since the start of the month.
The attack occurred at the consular camp, organised by the Consulate of India to issue Passports, visas and other services in partnership with the Hindu Sabha Mandir. This event was disrupted by Khalistani Extremists who met a counter-demonstration by people holding the Indian Flag. Videos of the commotion show extremists climbing the gates of the temple and attacking applicants and devotees.

The High Commission of India condemns this attack in a statement, stating, “We have seen violent disruption today orchestrated by anti-India elements outside the consular camp, co-organised with the Hindu Sabha Mandir, Brampton, near Toronto.” They raised concerns over the safety of the applicants participating in the consular camp. “We remain very concerned for the safety of applicants, including Indian nationals, on whose demand such events are organised,” they said. According to them, even after the commotion, 1000 life certificates were issued to Indians and Canadians by the Indian Consulate.
The High Commission pointed out that consular camps organised in Vancouver and Surrey on 2 and 3 November also caused disruptions. They have recommended that further consular camps be organised under the security provided by the Canadian Authority.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned this attack, stating that everyone has the right to religious freedom and security. “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practise their faith freely and safely,” he wrote in a post shared on X.
