The Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale started on Friday, September 27, but faced backlash before it even started. The Bengaluru-based company ran an ad describing husbands as “aalsi, kambakkht, and bewakoof,” which sparked criticism online. Many users called the ad “misandrist” and “toxic.” In response to the negative feedback, Flipkart quickly removed the ad and issued an apology, promising to improve in the future.

The animated ad was meant to provide women with clever tips on how to secretly order and hide handbags from Flipkart without their husbands noticing. While it tied into the 'Big Billion Days' sale and seemed innocent at first, it became controversial when the narrator referred to husbands as “aalsi, kambakkht, and bewakoof.” The ad even suggested ways for women to hide their “special friend” while their husbands were away, which upset many viewers.

After facing a lot of  backlash, Flipkart issued an apology, saying, " We’re sorry for the offending video which was posted in error, and took it down as soon as we realised our mistake. We will do better in the future."

The Big Billion Days Sale will end on October 6.
