Bandra Station Stampede Injures Nine People, New Ticketing Rules By CR

On Sunday morning, a stampede occurred on Platform Number One of the Bandra Station Terminus, injuring nine people. The reason for the stampede is being investigated, and meanwhile, Central Railway has released new rules for platform ticketing.

On Sunday morning, a stampede occurred on Platform Number One of the Bandra Station Terminus, injuring nine people. The reason for the stampede is being investigated, and meanwhile, Central Railway has released new rules for platform ticketing.

A stampede occurred at 05:56 AM when train No. 22921, Bandra-Gorakhpur Express, entered the station. The train was scheduled to depart at 05:10 AM, but its delayed arrival sparked a rush to board at the overcrowded platform, resulting in the stampede. Around nine people are injured, out of which two are in critical condition. All the patients were shifted to the hospital.

However, after the incident, Central Railway was quick to impose platform Ticketing restrictions to avoid overcrowding due to the festive season. Sales of Platform Tickets have been restricted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kurla, Thane, Kalyan, Pune and Nagpur. The Western Railway has also imposed similar restrictions at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra Terminus, Borivali, Vasai Road, Vapi, Valsad, Udhna, and Surat Station.

The restrictions are to curb overcrowding due to Diwali and Chhath Puja and will be put into effect immediately till 8 November.
