“All of us were afraid as we found it was a group of men, mostly aged between 25 and 40, peeping through windows. Even when we shouted and called for help, there was no one to hear us.”, said a first-year student from Gorakhpur who returned home on Monday. The 15 students who have stayed back decided to move into a common room and take turns guard at night. They have also refrained from using the restroom at night for fear of getting spied on.

The students have taken this step after the management failed to provide them with the necessary security. The college started in 2002 and had a position for four security guards, but the number did not increase over the years. Now that the campus has expanded, if one of them takes a leave, guarding the campus becomes very difficult.

The campus needs to be equipped with 16 CCTV Cameras, but only 10 have been installed, and six are operational. The management addressed the issues raised by the students and asked for the college professors to act as wardens at night, but they refused to work a 24-hour shift. There have been no  FIRs reported yet, but the police have decided to increase their patrol around the college.
