The filmmakers statement came in response to accusations that Chhaava, along with films like The Kashmir Files and The Sabarmati Report, is contributing to social polarization. One netizen pointed out that such movies deepen societal divides. A Netizen wrote,

"The Kashmir files polarised the society.

The Sabarmati Report polarised the society.

Chhava Movie polarised the society.

But The Kerala Story could not shake even 0.001% of Kerala's social fabric.

My respect for the people of Kerala 🙏♥️"

To this, Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri responded,

"Before #TheKashmirFiles the society wasn’t polarised at all. Muslim terrorists in Kashmir were helping Hindus find their houses and the corpses of their loved ones. JKLF never existed. See, how in Bengal, Islamists help in bringing down hanging bodies of Hindu women from trees."
