A fire broke out at a camp in Mahakumbh Nagar on Friday (February 7, 2025), fire officials said. No casualties have been reported. Chaos erupted in Sector 18 and nearby areas of the Maha Kumbh campus in Prayagraj. When a massive fire engulfed multiple tents along Shankaracharya Marg, causing significant damage.  Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the blaze.

Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi from the Khak Chowk police station stated, "fire broke out at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. However, firefighters have managed to bring the blaze largely under control."

He stated that officials from the fire department had promptly arrived at the site to manage and oversee the ongoing operation. In addition, multiple fire trucks were stationed at the location, actively engaged in efforts to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The teams are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.

This incident follows another fire that took place last week, in which 15 tents in an open area in Prayagraj were engulfed in flames. The fire occurred in the Chatnag Ghat Police Station area.

Earlier incidents at the Maha Kumbh include a fire triggered by the explosion of cooking gas cylinders, along with a devastating stampede on January 29, which led to 30 fatalities and 60 injuries.
