What exactly caused the stampede?

During Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya, it was considered the most auspicious event of Maha Kumbh. Around 10 crore pilgrims attend this event. Around 2am, people heard the ambulance and police sirens blaring rushing towards the Sangam alongside the shlokas and religious chants. The injured were immediately taken to the central hospital near the meal.

Triveni Sangam is the junction of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Triveni Sangam is considered the most scared in Hindus. There is a belief that taking a dip during this time washes away people's sins and provides them "Moksha".
