The Navy stated, "A fire broke out onboard INS Brahmaputra, a multi-role frigate, during a refit on the evening of July 21, 2024. The fire was extinguished by the ship’s crew with support from firefighters at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and other ships in the harbor by the morning of July 22, 2024. Subsequent actions, including sanitization checks to assess residual fire risk, were conducted."
