Terrorists strike an Army post in Rajouri

Early Monday morning, Army personnel thwarted a terrorist assault on a security post in the Gundha region of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials. The attack took place at around 4 a.m. when terrorists began firing at the post.

The troops stationed at the post responded promptly, leading to intense gunfire exchanges. An Army spokesperson verified the defensive response and the subsequent actions taken. "The troops successfully thwarted the attack, and a cordon and search operation was initiated by security forces in the area," the spokesperson reported. "Return fire was executed against the terrorists. The soldier injured in the terrorists' gunfire has been transported to the hospital," an official source mentioned.

Sources indicated that the terrorists initially tried to attack the residence of a member of a village defense group (VDG) and an ex-serviceman on the edge of a village. This attempt was thwarted by the presence of police officers, causing the terrorists to retreat and subsequently target the Army post.
