"I am filled with pride for my son. He performed admirably in such a dangerous mission and did so with dedication," said Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa (Retd), father of Captain Brijesh Thapa, who sacrificed his life in a firefight against terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir.
Captain Thapa was one of the four Army personnel who lost their lives after sustaining injuries during the intense gun battle with heavily armed terrorists on Monday evening.
In addition to Captain Thapa, the casualties in the encounter included Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.
"Brijesh, a third-generation Army officer in our family, had aspired to join the Indian Army since childhood," shared his father, Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa (Retd). "He last spoke to us on July 14 over the phone. Despite being a qualified engineer, he chose to pursue a career in the Army. He was 27 years old and had joined the Army five years ago."
"I am immensely proud of my son. Military operations always involve risks," stated the retired Army officer in his conversation with PTI.
