The Supreme Court granted Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as ‘BeerBiceps,’ protection from getting arrested but strongly condemned his remarks on India’s Got Latent, calling them "perverted" and "unacceptable."
Several FIRs were filed against Allahbadia following his comments about parents and sex during comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India's Got Latent. Despite the backlash, the court bench agreed to provide Allahbadia with arrest protection after senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud argued that arresting the YouTuber was unnecessary as the same issue had led to many FIRs.
Justice Surya Kant asked to Abhinav Chandrachud, "Are you defending the kind of language he has used?" The senior advocate replied by admitting to being "disgusted" by the remarks but contended that profanity only does not equate to criminal conduct.
"As an officer of the court, I personally am disgusted by what the petitioner has said but whether it rises to the level of a criminal offence is another question," BarandBench stated Abhinav Chandrachud as saying.
