Vikrant Massey expressed his enthusiasm for 12th Fail's top ranking by highlighting a particularly poignant scene from the film. He mentioned, “The champi sequence between Manoj and his mother stands out, marking a crucial moment when Manoj realizes his grandmother has passed away.

What makes this scene special is the extensive planning and production involved in capturing even a single shot. In this moment, a door with magical light serves as a backdrop—representing the brief time when day transitions to night, lasting only 5 to 7 minutes. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and DOP Rangarajan Ramabadran meticulously designed this master shot months in advance.

During filming, we had to be extremely precise, as we had only that narrow window to capture the scene. Geeta ji and I chose not to use glycerin for this emotionally intense moment, opting instead to immerse ourselves fully in the experience.
