Alia Bhatt's film Jigra features her in a unique role as a savior to her younger brother, portrayed by Vedang Raina. In a recent interview, director Vasan Bala revealed that he initially did not intend for Alia to be part of the project when discussing it with producer Karan Johar, and he was unhappy when Karan forwarded his rough draft to her.

Vasan described how his "unfinished email" unexpectedly reached Alia's inbox, catching him off guard. Speaking to Tried & Refused Productions, Alia explained that Vasan and Karan were in talks after Vasan’s Monica O My Darling and were seeking their next collaboration when Vasan began working on this film.

While Alia suggested Vasan likely had someone specific in mind, the director clarified, “No.” He recounted, “I had written a very rough email, just my stream of consciousness... I sent it to Karan, and six to seven hours later, he called to say he had already shared it with Alia. I was really not pleased with that.” Vasan expressed his frustration with Karan’s action because he wanted to refine the script and fix any mistakes before it reached Alia.

"I thought I could have at least done some spell-checking, grammar-checking, and written a nice introduction for the hero… That email went out, and I asked Karan, ‘Why did you do this?’ He responded, ‘No, no, this is how it works.’ Then he said we’d meet in a couple of days,” he recalled. Alia noted that she was intrigued by the material after reading the first half and eagerly pursued Vasan for the remainder of the script for a month.
