The Garfield movie, a new addition to the comic books franchise was released on May 17, 2024 in English and Hindi dubbing. The movie follows the story of Garfield’s heist after a run in with his long -lost father. The movie is funny, adventurous and even emotional at times, but not something that stays with you or has a massive effect on the audiences.

The 3D animated effect enhanced the audiences’ visual experience. And the fun soundtrack added to the adventurous tone of the film. The film was a nostalgia trip to the fans of the comics created by Jim Davis. The tone of the film is light and funny with various hilarious scenes that land with the audience, but some that don’t. There is also the added heartfelt moments between the father and the son.

The main plot of the film  is the planning and execution of the heist, which is gripping and adventurous. There are also several allusions to another heist film, Mission Impossible. At one point, in the middle of the heist, the Mission Impossible’s theme music is played in the background. Garfield also makes a direct reference to Tom Cruise in one scene, this really entertained the adult audiences.

The Garfield Movie, directed by Mark Dindal, has an ensemble of voice actors like Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham and Nicholas Hoult, who give amazing performances and make the characters fun and likeable. The antagonist of the film Jinx, is working towards a revenge, but the character did not feel villainous enough, and did not get enough screentime for any development.

Overall, it is a good light hearted, one-time watch film, with various hilarious moments here and there, perfect watch for the kids.

Rating- 3.5/5
