Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLD MEDALIST, has once again taken legal action against YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, accusing them of making threats and continuing to spread explicit photos of the actor. The agency released a statement on March 24, 2025, addressing the latest developments, including alleged pressure tactics involving Disney+ and Kim Soo Hyun’s upcoming drama Knock Off.
The controversy initially escalated on March 20, when GOLD MEDALIST filed a complaint against Garo Sero Research Institute for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. This came after the channel disclosed a photo of Kim Soo Hyun with his lower body exposed. However, according to GOLD MEDALIST, Garo Sero Research Institute didn’t stop there.
In their statement, GOLD MEDALIST claimed that just one day after the initial complaint, Garo Sero Research Institute reposted the same photo during a live YouTube broadcast. The agency condemned this act, calling it a blatant disregard for the law.
"On the very next day after we filed the complaint, March 21, Garo Sero Research Institute once again posted the same photos during a live broadcast on their YouTube channel. This behavior by them constitutes another criminal act and shows blatant disregard for the law and investigative authorities. It is an unimaginable act."
The agency further revealed that Garo Sero Research Institute allegedly tried to pressure Disney+, which is set to release Knock Off, starring Kim Soo Hyun. According to GOLD MEDALIST, the YouTube channel threatened to release a video of the actor if Disney+ didn’t cancel the drama’s release.
GOLD MEDALIST didn’t hold back in denouncing the claims made by Garo Sero Research Institute, particularly comparisons to the infamous "Nth Room" case — a massive digital sex crime scandal in South Korea. The agency firmly denied the existence of any such video involving Kim Soo Hyun, calling the allegations baseless.
"Garo Sero Research Institute made insinuations that sounded as if actor Kim Soo Hyun had committed a crime similar to the Nth Room case and claimed there is a video recording of it. Like all of their previous claims, this is completely false, and of course, no such video exists. Their actions are serious criminal offenses that cannot be overlooked, and we have swiftly taken additional legal action against them."
