Popular Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun faces intense scrutiny following allegations of a long-term relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron, fueled by a controversial YouTube channel.
The controversy erupted on March 10 when Garosero Research Institute, known for its contentious reporting, claimed in a video that Kim Soo Hyun had been romantically involved with Kim Sae Ron for six years, starting when she was underage at 15. The channel alleged that these details were confirmed by Kim Sae Ron’s family, citing a phone interview with one of her relatives.
These accusations have stirred widespread attention, especially coming shortly after Kim Sae Ron’s tragic death, ruled as suicide by authorities.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, swiftly refuted the claims, labelling them as entirely false and detrimental to the actor’s reputation. They announced plans to pursue legal action against Garosero Research Institute for spreading baseless rumours.

Hello, this is GOLD MEDALIST.
We would like to issue an official statement regarding the YouTube broadcast by Garosero Research Institute concerning actor Kim Soo Hyun.
All claims made by Garosero Research Institute regarding Kim Soo Hyun through their YouTube broadcast are false. They alleged that the company and Kim Soo Hyun, alongside YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, harassed the late actress Kim Sae Ron. Additionally, they claimed that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a romantic relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron since she was 15, that the company mishandled the situation following her DUI incident, and even that one of our managers was personally acquainted with YouTuber Lee Jin Ho. These malicious accusations against the company and Kim Soo Hyun are completely untrue and unacceptable. We are currently looking into pursuing the strongest possible legal action against Garosero Research Institute for spreading false information.
GOLD MEDALIST is deeply saddened by the passing of the late Kim Sae Ron, who was once part of the agency, and we mourn her loss. However, the dissemination of such false information by Garosero Research Institute mirrors the very ‘cyber wrecking’ that the late Kim Sae Ron suffered from during her lifetime. These actions are solely for personal gain of the YouTuber, defaming both the company and the deceased. We will respond to these allegations with zero tolerance.
We earnestly request that these baseless falsehoods are not further spread, amplified, or reproduced.
The YouTube channel, however, remained defiant. In a bold counterstatement, they referenced past legal threats from BTS, insinuating that even global stars like BTS had not successfully silenced their reporting. This comparison added fuel to the controversy, dragging BTS into the narrative once again.
Previously, Garosero Research Institute had made similar contentious claims involving BTS, alleging connections to scandals involving other celebrities, which BTS’ agency, HYBE, vehemently denied.
The situation further escalated as the YouTube channel implicated another YouTuber, Lee Jin Ho, in contributing to Kim Sae Ron’s distress before her death, particularly during her DUI scandal. They called for Lee Jin Ho’s channel to be deleted and encouraged viewers to sign a petition against him.
Kim Soo Hyun has yet to personally address the rumours publicly, leaving Gold Medalist to handle the situation through official statements.
