On December 2, Kakao Entertainment announced the casting of IU and Byeon Woo Seok as leads in the upcoming Kdrama, supposedly titled Wife of a 21st Century Prince. The drama takes place in an alternate reality where Korea is under a constitutional monarchy and sparks fly when the second son of the King and daughter of the wealthiest conglomerate cross paths.
The story revolves around Sung Hee Joo, played by IU, who had a very privileged and picture-perfect life, but her commoner status sends her down a path where she stumbles into Lee Ahn. Played by Byeon Woo Seok, Lee is the second son of the King but keeps his royal connections hidden from the world.
The drama will be around the concept of self-discovery while also covering love, identity and societal expectations. The drama promises to dwell in the realm where traditions try to meet modernity.
The drama, Wife of a 21st-Century Prince is in production and is set to air .in the second half of 2025. Byeon Woo Seok is known for his phenomenal role in shows like Moonshine and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, while IU is famous for her roles in Dream High and Miss Mister.
