K-Pop group BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has been appointed as a visiting professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His term starts on June 4 this year and stretches over two years until June 2026.
After he participated in the talk show “Innovate Korea 2024” held at the KAIST headquarters in Daejeon on June 5, G-Dragon received a letter of appointment as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
‘Innovate Korea 2024’ is an event hosted by KAIST and the National Research Council of Science and Technology where G-Dragon, Galaxy Corporation’s CEO Choi Yong Ho, and Lee Kwang Hyung, the president of KAIST, discussed future of artificial intelligence (AI) and K-pop. Last year, G-Dragon signed an exclusive contract with Galaxy Corporation and has been pursuing AI-related activities, which he has been showing his interest in.
G-dragon took to Instagram to share a photo of a jacket with KAIST logo in the back. While speaking about this appointment G-Dragon said, “It is an honour to be a visiting professor at KAIST, [an institute] which produces many scientific geniuses. I look forward to great synergy, or a ‘big bang,’ through the meeting between the best experts in science and technology and my expertise in the field of entertainment.”
G- Dragon will remain as a visiting professor for 2 years till June 2026. He will probably conduct a special lecture on leadership for undergraduate and graduate students, sharing his experiences as an artist and providing students with vision and insight into the world.
