Vir Das Wins Best Comedy at the International Emmy Awards 2023: Here's the Full Winners' List

For India, the 23rd annual International Emmy Awards had a special significance. Not only was the Delhi Gang Rape survivor honored with the Humanitarian Award, but Indian actor and comedian Vir Das also took home the coveted Best Comedy award. 

Vir Das, who is known for his brilliant stand-up comedy and hosting gigs, earned this award for his Amazon Prime Video show ‘Hasmukh’. This dark comedy revolves around a small-town stand-up comedian who is tasked by a local crime lord to kill his targets for a hefty fee. Having begun his career in India, Vir Das has become one of the first Indian performers to grace the stage at the International Emmy Awards. 

Apart from Vir Das and the Delhi Gang Rape Survivor’s Award, a few other notable awards went to performers from around the world. ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ bagged the Top Comedy Award. This is the third time that the program has won this prize. The Best Documentary award was presented to BBC’s ‘Disappearance at Sea’, which explores the stories of people who have gone missing on the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, the award for Best Limited Series went to Brazil’s ‘RENT – Live’. 

In recognition of the efforts of a host of other actors, directors, and musicians, the International Emmy Awards also recognized those who contributed their talent to various countries’ TV landscape. The full list of nominees and winners from the 23rd International Emmy Awards is as follows:
