Angelina Jolie to Receive a Tribute Award at Toronto Film Festival

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie will be honoured with a Tribute Award at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The actor turned filmmaker will receive the Award for Impact Media, announced on August 27 by TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey.

This award was previously given to significant personalities such as Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair, and Alanis Obomsawin. It acknowledges and rewards outstanding leadership in bridging social impact and cinema and will be presented by Anna Marie.

Angelina Jolie will be awarded alongside other award recipients, including Amy Adams, Jharrel Jerome, Cate Blanchett, Mike Leigh, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clément Ducol, Camille, and Zhao Tao.

TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey made a statement where he said, “Angelina Jolie is a multifaceted talent who has entertained audiences for decades while consistently using her platform to champion important causes.”

He further added, “We’re honoured to present her with the 2024 TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media. This award recognizes her exceptional achievements in filmmaking, and her unwavering commitment for positive change, solidifying her status as a veritable humanitarian and global force to be reckoned with.” 

Angelina Jolie will be awarded on September 8 at the 2024 TIFF Tribute Awards, held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
