The teaser trailer for ‘Dune: Prophecy’ was released recently, and the series will stream on Max. This series is loosely based on Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’. According to reports, the first season of the series will have 6 episodes. ‘Dune: Prophecy’ was originally supposed to be titled as ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’.
After the success of ‘Dune: Part 2’, fans are expecting a lot from this series as well. The Dune film series, directed by Denis Villeneuve, is set in the distant future, the film follows the story of Paul Atreides as his family, the noble House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis. The film cast includes big names like Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Oscar Issac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa.
The new series is a prequel to the original Dune film series and is set around 10, 000 years before the film story begins. Alison Schapker is showrunner and executive producer of "Dune: Prophecy" along with Diane Ademu-John, who has co-developed the series. Anna Foerster has directed multiple episodes including the first of the series. The series was in works since 2017, way before the pandemic.
The dystopian series has ensemble cast like Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Frankli, Jihae. Recently, it was even reported that Bollywood actress Tabu has also joined this cast.
