"They Wanted to Remove Me" – Govinda Speaks on Bollywood Politics

Bollywood actor Govinda has been absent from the film industry for quite some time. Although he makes occasional guest appearances on reality TV shows and special events, he has not starred in any films for the past six years. In a recent discussion with Mukesh Khanna on his YouTube channel Bheeshm International, Govinda alleged that Bollywood had conspired against him.

Discussing his decision to enter politics, Govinda alleged that he faced a conspiracy within Bollywood. He stated,  "I went through a defamation phase, and it was pre-planned. They wanted to remove me from the industry. I understood that these were all educated people, and I, an uneducated outsider, had entered their space. So they started playing games with me. I can't take their names because I am still surviving because of the work I did in the industry. Jab mere saath shariantra shuru hue, maranpryog shuru hue. Ghar ke bahar bahut saare log gun ke saath pakde gaye, bahut saare log marne ke alag alag tareeke nikalne lage. Fir shariantra ke baad mera nature badal gaya." 

Govinda's last film appearance was in Rangeela Raja, released in 2019. Directed by Sikander Bharti and written and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani, the comedy film featured Govinda in a dual role alongside Mishika Chourasia and Anupama Agnihotri. However, it did not perform well at the box office. During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show last year, the actor shared that he has three upcoming projects in the works.

Govinda reflected on a period when he had no work, revealing, "While people claimed I was jobless, I had actually rejected film offers worth ₹100 crore. I would look in the mirror and even slap myself for turning down such a huge amount. I thought, ‘You must be crazy; that money could have funded your own projects.’ The roles I declined were similar to those that are successful today."  Despite this, he stood by his choices, emphasizing the importance of following one's heart and making decisions based on personal integrity, as being true to oneself matters the most.

Govinda recently found himself in the spotlight due to speculation about his marriage to Sunita Ahuja. While the couple did not address the rumors publicly, their lawyer clarified that Sunita had initiated divorce proceedings six months ago, but they have since resolved their differences and reconciled.
