By now, everyone knows how Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 ends and an unexpected plot twist at the end. While the twist left the audience split, Mere Dholna, sung by Sonu Nigam, stole the scene. The song had emotions like betrayal, pain, freedom and, most importantly, rage. Each line of the song hits hard in every transgender person’s heart, pulling strings like never before. While the first part of the song pictured pain, the second had sheer pain.

Anyone, whether trans or not, can relate to the first part, which creates an image of a person's childhood, a time when they didn’t care about what society said about them or the evils it had. It continues this story by showing how, in the case of many trans individuals, it's their family that betrays them first and then the world. The pain in the voice of Sonu Nigam easily resonated with the hearts of all by this point.

The rage bit comes in the second half of the song, where anyone can be associated with it, but the lyrics, Aadha adhura tha badan ye mera, Ek gark thaaa. Jo ghar thaa meri jannat, Ek nark thaaa,” hits the trans folks the most. Living with the feeling of being trapped in a foreign body and not receiving any support from their own home is something that most transgender people experience in their lives. For them, their homes turn into a second prison after their body.

The next part, even though it is associated with the movie, talks about thrones and kingdoms, and one can associate societal expectations with them and how they can be a burden. The rage bit comes here, and it talks about how they want to destroy everything because that’s the only way out of this misery now.

The song is intense from start to end, with a catchy set of lyrics and a tune that stays in the back of the mind of everyone. The song has become an instant hit, with fans showering it with love.
