Actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday for his alleged involvement in a stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre during the Pushpa-2 premiere. The stampede happened over a week ago and caused the death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi on December 4. Her son is still being treated for injuries.
A police team, led by the assistant commissioner, went to Allu Arjun's home to arrest him while his family was there. They escorted him to their vehicle and took him to the police station.
The incident happened on December 4, when Allu Arjun's visit to the theatre with his security caused a chaotic crowd trying to get inside. Poor crowd management led to a stampede, and the situation escalated, resulting in a lathicharge.
The police mentioned that, " The theatre management did not make any additional provisions regarding security to manage the crowd nor was there any separate entry or exit for the actors team though the theatre management had information about their arrival."
Earlier, the police had arrested three people, including a co-owner of the theatre, in connection with the incident.
The police filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station. The case was based on a complaint from the deceased woman's family.
