According to the employees, jewelry valued at Rs 25 crore was stolen from the Tanishq store. Store manager Kumar Mrityunjay informed Mint, “There were eight-nine robbers,” and claimed that police did not respond on time despite multiple calls.
Shortly after the heist, police apprehended two of the robbers following a brief gunfight and recovered two bags containing a portion of the stolen jewelry. Security measures across the town were also intensified, an officer stated. Authorities became suspicious of two young men on a motorcycle near Barhara. When they spotted the police, they attempted to escape, prompting a chase. To evade capture, the duo opened fire, resulting in a gunfight. Eventually, both suspects were arrested, sustaining bullet injuries in their legs, the officer told PTI.
Superintendent of Police Raj assured everyone that all those involved in the robbery would soon be caught. "So far, we have recovered about 70 percent of the stolen jewelry, and efforts are underway to track down the remaining four suspects," he added.
