As India wraps up the group stage of ICC T-20 World Cup and set to kickstarts the Super Eight stage, team has released Indian batter Shubman Gill & fast bowler Avesh Khan from the squad. Sources said, they were supposed to be with the team till only group stage.
As per a BCCI source, the Indian team management decided to release Gill instead of fellow travelling reserve Rinku Singh because the latter can replace anyone in the squad in case of a potential injury. However, in Gill’s case, the dashing opening batter can only replace current openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, with Yashasvi Jaiswal being already present in the group as the third opening option.
There were speculations about the rift between Shubman Gill & Rohit Sharma owing to the T-20 World Cup spot. Gill was also in news for allegedly unfollowing Rohit Sharma on Instagram. Netizens bursts into reactions when Gill was accussed to release for disciplinary issues. But, the batter has put an end to rumours surrounding the 'disciplinary issue' by sharing a cryptic post on the Instagram stories.
The Indian batter on Sunday put a picture of him with skipper Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira on the Insta stories, captioning it: "Sammy and I learining the art of discipline from @rohitsharma45..."
