In the post match scenes of SRH Vs. LSG on May 8 when Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed Lucknow in their home ground and celebrated a glorious win by chasing 165 runs in just 9.4 overs, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka who is a quite reactive in nature when it comes to cricket match and crucial moments in the game, splashed out KL Rahul captain of Lucknow in front of the hundreds of the cameras.

On the other hand, social media is replete with videos of KKR team owner Shah Rukh Khan being gracious in defeat and meeting his team’s players and the opposition amicably. As Goenka’s animated chat visuals aired, JioCinema experts said, ‘The owner is very passionate about his team, but these conversations should be happening behind closed doors’.

This is not the first time when Sanjiv Goenka has done such thing with a senior player like KL Rahul, in 2017 when he was owning Rising Pune Supergiants he abruptly decided to remove India’s most successful skipper, MS Dhoni, as captain of the IPL team and hand over the mantle to Australia skipper Steven Smith. It was a decision that received a lot of flak, but Goenka, while defending the decision, had said, “To me, the media can say whatever they want, the social media can also say whatever. I respect everything, I respect all the views, and each one is entitled to their own views. But, I do not think it is a matter of public debate as to what went behind the decision (of handing the captaincy to Smith). Sometimes the decisions are not necessarily the most popular, but that is the way it is," Goenka said in 2017.
