It was a deathbed for bowlers at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium as Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru following RCB's payback while chasing. Both the teams scored 549 runs all together in just 40 overs breaking tons of records. It was expected that this match would be a run fest but SRH breaking their own record of highest T20 score in the histroy, in under 20 days was not in the list.

While batting first Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 287 runs with the likes of explosive innings by each and every batter starting with Abhishek Sharma & Travis Head with their 108 runs opening partnership in just 8 overs. Head scored an impressive hundred, 4th fastest in the history of IPL, he scored 102 runs in 41 balls while Klassen scored 67 off 31 with the strike rate of 216.1. Following this striking start, Markram & Samad too broke upon RCB bowlers, Markram scored 32 off 17 while Samad scored 37 in just 10 balls.

Going after such a huge target was not easy but Royal Challengers are known for such unbelievable moments, they fought till end and scored 262 runs most by any team in T20 cricket while chasing. Virat Kohli & Faf Du Plessis set the platform for batters with a attacking start. Kohli scored 42 off just 20 balls while Faf was looking good with 62 off just 28 balls untill he was eaten out by Cummins. RCB lost their way in the middle when Patidar got cought playing a lofted shot & Sourabh Chauhan got LBW out playing his first bowl following run out of Will Jacks. Though RCB was still in the game chasing the unchasable when Dinesh Karthik started showing his skills on field, DK scored 83 off just 35 balls, got unlucky when he was cought by Klassen in Natrajan's over.

Records Broken: 

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad put the highest total in IPL history, breaking their own total of 277/3 they scored against Mumbai Indians a few weeks ago.
  • RCB and SRH aggregated a total of 549 runs in the match, which is the highest in T20 cricket history. The previous best was 523 runs between Sunrisers and Mumbai Indians.
  • SRH batters struck 22 sixes in the match, which is the most by any team in an IPL innings. The record was earlier held by RCB for their 21 sixes against Pune Warriors in 2013.
  • SRH and RCB batters hit 38 sixes cumulatively in the match, the joint-most in any T20 match, equalling the tally of sixes recorded during Hyderabad and Mumbai earlier this season.
  • RCB's 262/7 is the highest total in a losing cause in T20 cricket. The previous best was West Indies' 258/5 against South Africa in 2023.
  • SRH became the first team in IPL history to have two 250-plus totals in the league. RCB then joined them later in the match.
  • It's the first time that 4 bowlers of the same team went for 50-plus runs in their overs. RCB's Reece Topley (68), Yash Dayal (51), Lockie Ferguson (52) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (64) all conceded more than 50 runs against SRH.
  • In the match there were seven fifty-plus partnerships put together by the two teams. This has never happened in a T20 match before.
