IND vs NZ: Virat Kohli gets injured during practice ahead of Champions Trophy final - Report

During the last practice before the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, India's ace batsman Virat Kohli was injured.  According to Geo News, the batter was struck close to his knee while facing a bowler in the nets for the final, which is scheduled for Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.  

Indian cricket team physio staff attended to the 36-year-old as he stopped training after getting hit near his knee.

When the 36-year-old halted exercising after being struck close to his knee, physiotherapists from the Indian cricket team came to his aid.  The wounded area was bandaged and sprayed by the physiotherapy staff.  As he reassured the support crew about his condition, Kohli remained on the ground and watched other players practice.

The coaching staff subsequently clarified that Kohli will be able to play against New Zealand since his injury, which occurred just one day before the final, is not serious.  With an eye toward the championship game, India has already discovered that New Zealand is a formidable opponent, particularly in ICC competitions.  In ICC events, New Zealand leads India 10–6 in all forms, dominating the head-to-head statistics between the two teams.  If you look more closely, the Black Caps lead India 3-1 in ICC knockout matches.
