Veer Zaara Joins The 100 Crore Club; 20 years After The Release

Lately, many old Bollywood films are being re-released in theatres, since very few new movies are doing any business. These re-released movies are now earning more than the current films and even surpassing their own success when it was first released. One such re-released film is Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta starrer ‘Veer Zaara’.

‘Veer Zaara’ is a romantic drama where an Indian squadron leader Veer Pratap Singh falls in love with the Pakistani Zaara Hayat Khan. The love story further leads to heartbreak, tragedy, an intense climax, courtroom drama and unparalleled love. Originally released on November 12, 2004, the film had a collection of Rs 98 crore globally when it was originally released, with about Rs 61 from India and Rs 37 crore from overseas markets. It was the highest-grossing Indian film of that year, both in India and internationally. Over the years, it earned another Rs 2.5 crore through various re-releases.

In February 2023, the film was briefly re-released and earned around Rs. 30 lakhs then. Recently, the film was released again in the September of 2024 and collected Rs 1.45 crore in just five days of its release. As of September 17, 2024, Veer-Zaara's total worldwide box office collection stands at an Rs 102.25 crore.

Veer Zara, directed by Yash Chopra, stars Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinda in lead roles. The film also includes Rani Mukherjee, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutt.
