Vedang Raina, who made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies, is preparing for the release of his upcoming film, Jigra, which features Alia Bhatt in the lead role. He recently shared that fully immersing himself in such a complex character was a significant challenge and affected his mental health.
Raina noted that it wasn’t easy for him to transition in and out of character like Alia did while filming Jigra. In an interview with Mansworld, he described how, on the first day of shooting, which involved an emotionally intense scene, he isolated himself in his vanity. He turned off the lights, silenced his phone, and requested everyone to leave him alone.
"I sat there listening to my music. As luck would have it, the shot, originally scheduled for 3 PM, got delayed and we started filming around 8 PM. So, I was in that self-imposed solitude for about 8 long hours, and it really began to affect me," he shared.
Vedang mentioned that even after finishing his scenes, he struggled to exit that emotional zone for 2 to 3 hours. This experience made him realize that this approach wasn't sustainable, prompting him to vow never to subject himself to it again, as he felt it wasn’t beneficial.
"I think there are alternative methods to tap into that emotion; I just need to discover which one suits me best," the actor remarked.
