Meena Kumari is one of the most prominent names in the history of Indian cinema and is the recipient of four Filmfare Awards in the Best Actress category. Her career spanned three-plus decades of life and she had been part of 90 films from child actress to adult. The veteran star was known for the movies like Baiju Bawra, Parineeta, Kaajal, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Phool Aur Patthar, Mere Apne, etc.
And witnessing the life of such a great actress in a full-fledged film will be indeed a pleasure. As per the reports, it is said that the biopic will be helmed by India’s one of the top fashion designers. He is none other than THE MANISH MALHOTRA, yes, you heard that right.
Manish Malhotra will debut as a director in Meena Kumari's biopic flick and it is said that one of the current leading Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon will portray the role of the veteran beauty.
According to further reports, the film is backed by Bhushan Kumar under the production company T-series. The aim is to honor the tragedy queen of Indian cinema. As per the reports by the leading news portal, Manish Malhotra has frequently expressed that it has been his "long-cherished dream" to recreate the enchanting aura that Meena Kumari possessed. And currently, the project is in the process of scripting. However, the makers have not made any official announcement yet about the making of the film.
Meena Kumari bid goodbye to the world on 31 March 1972 at the age of 38, as she suffered from cirrhosis of the liver, which has been associated with her alcoholism.
And on the work front of Kriti Sanon, there is a lineup of films for the actress. She will be back alongside Tiger Shroff again for Vikas Bahl’s directorial Ganpath – Part 1, which also stars the legend, Amitabh Bachchan. Paired with Shahid Kapoor for an untitled film that is set to release by October 2023. Adding on, the actress will be seen in Rhea Kapoor’s movie, The Crew, and will also share screen space with Kajol in her debut production venture.
