This Is Why ‘Bodyguard' Director Siddique Never Made Hindi Film Again!

One of the ace Indian directors, Siddique, predominantly worked in the Malayalam industry and directed the one and only Hindi film ‘Bodyguard’ and due to THIS he never made any Bollywood movie again. Read on.

On 8 August 2023, filmmaker Siddique passed away after suffering from a heart attack around 7:30 pm at the Amrita Hospital, Kochi that shook several celebs in the film industry. Due to liver-related issues, he was taken to the hospital on July 10 and was already going through treatment for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.

Siddique Ismail was one of the greatest directors of Indian cinema predominantly worked for the Malayalam film industry and delivered many hit movies that went on to be remade in many other regional languages he had an audience that belonged to every generation including Tamilians and North Indian viewers too.

Also, Siddique did receive offers from Bollywood before and after directing Salman Khan starrer film ‘Bodyguard’. He remade it by watching a lot of Hindi films by learning nuances and he indeed earned a massive success by making 250 crores at the box office. Unfortunately, he never did any Hindi film further after that.

Because he believed in, read what the filmmaker had once shared which explains why he avoid doing Bollywood movies, “I could get an entry in Bollywood due to the strength of Bodyguard’s story. It is difficult to translate Malayalam jokes into Hindi. There are several jokes that work because of the speciality of the language. I tried to find humour that suited the tastes of the Tamil and Hindi audiences. If we get a good Hindi writer we will be able to retain the essence of the original.” 

And he even got offers from Telugu and Kannada industries for the Bodyguard’s remake but he declined and now you’ll know why.

Though we’ve only witnessed his one Hindi directorial film but his many movies directed by himself and Siddique-Lal were remade in Hindi and other languages. While, he had remade films in Tamil with Friends, Chronic Bachelor (Engal Anna), Bhaskar The Rascal (Bhaskar Oru Rascal) and Sadhu Miranda a straight Tamil film. Adding on, in Telugu also he had only a film titled Maro.
