Deepika Padukone has been acknowledged by the global journal Deadline as a disruptor for the class of movers & shakers 2024, joining the high-profile footsteps of Eva Longoria, Uma Thurman, and Lee Sung Jin. In an open discussion with the magazine, Deepika discussed her experiences in the entertainment business, the stigma associated with mental illness, and her efforts to introduce Indian film on the Hollywood worldwide stage.
Deepika made her Hollywood debut with the 2017 movie xXx: Return Of Xander Cage. Thinking back on her career in the film business, particularly her Hollywood audition experience, she revealed, “About a decade ago, when I started my journey in the West auditioning, it was a really new process for me because I’d never had to audition. I wasn’t a trained actor, and I never went to a fancy acting school — everything that I’ve learned has been on the job. The systems are so different between Hollywood and Bollywood.”
