Opening up about the delay in releasing her latest film, Emergency and a possible ban in Punjab due to various Sikh outlets opposing the film’s release. Calling out the accusation of depicting the sikh community in a negative light, Ranaut expresses, “4 historians supervised our films. We have the proper documents. There is nothing wrong with my film. But some people call Bhindranwale a saint, revolutionary or a leader. They threatened via pleas (to ban her film). I have also received threats. Previous governments have declared Khalistanis as terrorists. He was not a saint who was sitting in a temple with an AK47.”

Explaining the resistance to her film she added, “Only some people have an objection to my film, they are also inciting others. I don’t think 99 per cent of the people of Punjab consider Bhindranwale a saint. He is a terrorist and if he is a terrorist, my film should be released.”

Not stopping there, the Manikarnika star used Padmavat and Udta Punjab to call out the film industry and the opposition for no supporting her film during her delayed releases. “It's happened in the past too. There have been films like Padmaavat and Udta Punjab which were released quite smoothly. There were throats to chop off someone's nose, someone's neck, but the government protected them and they were released. But when it came to my film's release, no one… especially no one from the Congress party supported me, not even the film industry did. I definitely feel like I'm on my own. When I see these kind of feelings, this narrow-minded thinking, what kind of hope from people would I be left with?” Kangana said.

“The film industry is celebrating that my self-financed film didn't release. I I am in the loneliest corner of the world,” she said. Not only is the film financed by Ranaut owned Manikarnika Productions and Zee Studios but is also written and directed by her.
