‘Metro… In Dino’ Trailer Drops: Anurag Basu’s Modern Ode to Urban Love
Anurag Basu has unveiled the much-awaited trailer for his upcoming film Metro… In Dino, offering audiences a contemporary and emotional look at love across different generations. Set to release in theaters on July 4, 2025, the film is a spiritual successor to Basu’s acclaimed 2007 hit Life in a... Metro.
Metro… In Dino is an anthology that brings together a host of interwoven stories exploring the intricacies of modern relationships in the fast-paced setting of urban India. The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher.
The trailer presents glimpses into a variety of love stories—each distinct in age, background, and emotional complexity. From Gen Z’s struggles with digital-era romance to the rekindling of connection in later life, Basu’s narrative aims to highlight love’s timelessness and fragility. One striking scene features Sara Ali Khan’s character candidly calling Aditya Roy Kapur’s character a “commitment-phobic man-child,” setting the tone for a film that balances wit with realism.
Music, a signature component of Basu’s storytelling, is composed by Pritam. While the trailer introduces a fresh soundtrack, early reactions suggest a mixed response, with some fans nostalgic for the iconic songs of the original Metro.
At the trailer launch, Basu dedicated Metro… In Dino to late actor Irrfan Khan and singer KK, both of whom played key roles in the emotional impact of the first film. The heartfelt tribute underlines the film’s deeper intent—to reflect on love, loss, and the fleeting beauty of human connection.
Metro… In Dino is shaping up to be a thoughtful, emotional, and relatable cinematic experience. With its diverse cast, interwoven narratives, and exploration of love in the age of chaos and connection, the film is poised to strike a chord with a wide audience.
