To avoid the mega box office clash Alia Bhatt starring Dharma Production's 'Jigra' will now be released on October 11; the film was earlier scheduled to release on September 27. But the makers wanted to avoid the clash with Jr. NTR & Janhvi Kapoor's 'Devra: Part I' and thus changed the release date of Jigra.
Alia Bhatt took to her social media to announce the postponed release date.
The film is co-produced by Alia Bhatt's Eternal Sunshine and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Alia Bhatt will be seen playing an elder daughter to The Archies actor Vedang Raina in Jigra. On the other hand, Devra: Part I features ensemble cast including, NTR Jr along with Saif Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor & Shruti Marathe making their telugu debuts while Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko and Narain. Devara is scheduled for a theatrical release on 27 September 2024.
The main reason behind the release date swap is nothing but the box office clash which benefits no one and looking at the decline in box office numbers nowadays the decision to postpone the film works well for the producers of both the films. Another reason which pops out is the corelation of Karan Johar in both the films. While even superstars, Alia Bhatt & Jr NTR have worked together in RRR and share a good bond and thus this desicion can be considered as amicable swap of release dates.
