Blackout Reviews

A road-chase drama which unfolds in a pitch dark night with a sudden blackout in the city of Pune is a perfect mixture of comic and twists and turns. Blackout stars Vikrant Massey, Sunil Grover, Mouni Roy in the lead roles while social media influencers, Karan Sonawane & Suarabh Ghadge too make their showstopping appearances.

The story revolves aroudn Lenny, a crime reporter (Vikrant Massey) & sting operation specialist who simply goes out to buy eggs during blackout and stuck in a seires of unexpected events; where he meets, Azgar Bhai (Sunil Grover),a drunk & dusted don, Thik & Thak (Karan & Saurabh), two wasted brothers and Shruti (Mouni Roy). The story moves ahead with these mad heads and unwanted hilarious circumstances.

Plotwise, Blackout looks really strong and inquisitive. It has a wide scope, too many elements to explore & accurate twists and turns. Even though director Devang Bhavsar could have showed all those lost aspects of the film. It seems like the characters doesn't develope in the story and remain some lose ends. The ending too comes off predictable and little distracted.

On the performance front, Vikrant Massey shines brighter. After critical acclaimations from 12th Fail, it's his first film coming out to the world and he lives up to his reputation. Sunil Grover in a little different character tick the boxes right as an actor, though the way director and writer haven't really explored all the nuances of his character fully. On the other hand, Karan and Saurabh works really hard to put a show! They are not new to the camera but to do it for a full-fledge movie and maintaining the consistency is a tough job and they have done it effortlessly. In front of such a studded star cast both of them catches the attention easily.

Mouni Roy on the other hand is a little off and struggles a lot to get into the character. The reason might be her late & too simple entry in the story. Till the climax nears her character remains pointless. One of the exciting appearances was Anant Joshi; his chemistry with Vikrant reminds us of 12th Fail.

Overall, its a one time watch and a fun movie to watch on a friday night with your family or friends. It would remind you of iconic road-chase bollywood movies even though it doesn't reach that level.

RATING- 3/5 Stars
