The following is an interview taken in a location called Sthamba in Mumbai. During the conversation, she discussed Punjabi cinema, marriage, and various other topics. Let's dive in !
Interviewer - do you believe that there's an age for marriage?
Jasmin - I don't think that there's an age for marriage or having a partnership in your life. What matters is, finding the right person. Not because you think because it's my age, the clock is ticking. No. What matters is the person, the bond, the relationship you share. Age is just a number. 'Aisa na ho ki aap desperation mein galat decision le lein". Settlement and marriage is a beautiful thing, you know. You should take a decision about it and you must be sure about it.
Interviewer - Absolutely. And you need to have a partner who is there for you.
Jasmin - And there's nothing wrong even if you're single. We're all single & independent working these days. Nobody needs anybody for anything except love, respect and support in partnership. Take your time and find the best match for yourself.
Interviewer - How are women perceived in the Punjabi industry?
Jasmin - In punjabi, it's a very beautiful thing. Women are perceived in a very beautiful and a very respectful manner. They do not have toms of item songs. They make movies which are more related to culture and their soil. So they mostly show women in their rural and beautiful Indian ways which I really like about it. Because I think Punjabi cinema is much rooted and attached to its culture and traditions. They are shown as a symbol of strength and power.
Interviewer - What is your bollywood wishlist? Like, this is what I wanna do, the kind of genre I wanna do. The kind of role with Karan Johar or Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Jasmin - To be very honest, I am not in a space where I would dream of 'oh my God I want something like a very big glamour or commercial role that's gonna land up to me.'
I am in a state where I feel any character, any role where I get to prove my talent, what I can do as a performer and a space where I can get recognition and validation. Because acting is a thing which I've been doing for years. I just need an opportunity to showcase it. And it's not that I don't get offers. I do get offers. But unfortunately I have to say no to them because if I have waited for so long, why not wait for a little more time so that I get the right thing. Because you're firsts are very important. It'll create a path for me for what I want to do ahead in my life. That's why. I am never gonna rush. I do not believe in rushing.
Interviewer - Kudos to your patience. We're very sure you're gonna get a very very cut-through role. Thank you so much.
