Shamshera features Ranbir Kapoor as a dacoit who must protect his tribe the evil Daroga Shuddh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt and fulfill his father's legacy. The trailer, promo and songs have received a good response. Shamshera is the first film of Ranbir Kapoor after the blockbuster, Sanju, and was expected to end the dry run of the box office. The advance collection was good but the opening as per trade report has not been up to the mark as the action drama kicked-off somewhere between 15-20% occupancy in the morning shows across the country. The reviews have neither been encouraging which limited its growth towards the evening and night shows.
