The much-awaited Cannes Film Festival has started after an almost three-year gap. The last red-carpet event took place in 2019. The festival is not just back with a grander version but will have a special focus on India.

PM Narendra Modi also penned a note wishing India success at the festival. The 75th Cannes Film starts from Tuesday, May 17 and will go on until May 28. The event is taking place in France. Unlike 2021, Covid-19 protocols have been loosened up a bit for the attendees. The red carpet will see celebrities from the global entertainment industry huddled under one platform for the festival.

Films of Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Mishing, and Hindi languages will take the center stage at Cannes 2022. Rocketry will be premiered at Palais K, and other films will be screened at the Olympia theatre. The Cannes Film Festival lineup includes Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Godavari, Alpha Beta Gamma, Boomba Ride, Dhuin, Tree Full of Parrots. A film by Satyajit Ray has been restored for screening at the Cannes Classics section, at the birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker.
