Saturday brought some good news for Jersey after a low opening day.

Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey, a remake of Telugu film was officially announced to be released on 31st December to end 2021 on a good note. However, with sudden rise of COVID-19 cases due to 3rd wave, the cricket drama got postponed to 14th April which was another set back since the advance collection of KGF Chapter 2 was humongous which led the makers to decide to postpone the film by another week.

Even though the cricket drama got favorable reviews from the critics and users as per Book My Show, cricket drama has opened on a low note in the morning shows in the range of 10-12% across India due to the strong wave created by storm called KGF Chapter 2 which led to the opening of Rs 3.90 crore.

As per early trade report, Jersey showed a solid growth on Saturday of around 50-60% and has collected somewhere between Rs 5.50-6 crore on its second day, bringing the two days total to Rs 8.80-9 crore which is still low since it carries a mammoth budget of Rs 100 crore. The cricket drama needs to show a huge growth on Saturday and Sunday to make up for the loss.

Jersey has been released in 2500 screens in the northern belt and is the first film of Shahid Kapoor after he gave the blockbuster, Kabir Singh. The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju, Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, and Allu Aravind. Jersey stars Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapoor in key roles.
