RRR 4th Weekend Box Office – Beats The Kashmir Files To Become The Highest Grossing Film Post-Pandemic
Koyla was directed by Rakesh Roshan and written by Sachin Bhowmick and Ravi Kapoor. Rakesh Roshan previously made films including the drama Khudgarz (1987), the revenge drama Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), the comedy-drama Kishen Kanhaiya (1990) and Karan Arjun (1995). Rakesh Roshan has chosen the story of revenge drama which was in line with his previous work, Karan Arjun.
Dialogues by Anwar Khan were punching. Music by the legend Rajesh Roshan was tuneful. Coming to the performance, I couldn’t have imagined anyone but Shah Rukh Khan playing the role of Shanker but it was Amrish Puri who stole the show as Raja Saab with his cunning and wicked expression which you will love to hate. Madhuri Dixit, Ashok Saraf and Johnny Lever were equally effective.
According to the Boxofficeindia.com, Koyla was released on 7th April 1997 at 275 screens to Rs 1.06 crore. The film collected Rs 3.10 crore in its first weekend and went onto collect Rs 5.52 crore in its first week. Koyla ended its theatrical run with only Rs 15 crore against a budget of Rs 12 crore and was declared “Average” at the box office.
